Q

My Story

I Struggled with Depression and Anxiety from Trauma
As a 9 year old, I had a major trauma which resulted in becoming legally blind in my left eye. From the incident, I developed major depression and anxiety issues. I believed and felt that I was guilty for my eye injury. Furthermore, I believed and felt that I was not good enough and even worthless. This all followed me into adulthood. I struggled with it for years. I probably became a therapist because of my experiences. I attended a therapist training on a therapy called EMDR. As it would happen, I was volunteered to be a demonstration on EMDR. The trainer performed the EMDR therapy with me on my traumatic eye incident. The relief I received was incredible and my emotional responses to negative incidences have been greatly improved. The best part is it has been permanent. That incredible experience, is the reason I primarily promote EMDR therapy for my clients.

I help people with their struggles by identifying and resolving negative experiences and traumas from their pasts. The therapy I most commonly use is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR works by enabling the client to fully process negative/disturbing life events. Disturbing life events and emotions related to them can create a block that prevents a person from processing and healing from those events. When those events are fully processed, the associated emotions dissipate, and the client can put the event in a perspective that promotes self-healing. EMDR facilitates that processing.

Research demonstrates that EMDR is an effective therapy for resolving client challenges including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression and bipolar

  • Trauma

  • Negative Life Experiences

  • Grief and Loss

  • Performance Anxiety

  • PTSD

  • Sexual Assault

  • Substance Abuse and Addiction

  • Violence and Abuse
